As part of its commitment to support the education of children in slum areas, Hyve India Private Limited partnered with Dream a Difference to organise the second edition of Recycle for Education initiative. Like in the first edition, this involved recycling waste paper to make notebooks and eco-friendly plantable seed pens, which were then donated to underprivileged children.
The initiative kicked off with collection drives across select urban areas in Delhi-NCR by setting up collection kiosks. The residents were explained about the initiative and encouraged to donate their household waste papers like newspapers, card boxes, magazines, etc. The initiative found tremendous support as several residents contributed for the noble cause.
All the waste paper collected was then recycled and produced 12,000 notebooks and 6,000 pens, which are equivalent to over 400 trees saved. The notebooks and pens were then bundled into kits with each kit having 10 notebooks and 5 pens per student. These were then distributed for free to 1200 school children at Greater Noida.
Impact of the CSR activity on the community and environment:
Saved over 400 trees, equivalent to 70,000 kW-H of energy
Saved 600,000 litres of water
Saved 80 cubic meters of landfill space
Prevented 18,000 kgs of CO2 emissions
1,200 students supported for annual stationery requirement
